The Kia Stinger GT is a compact car that has a body style of a 5-door fastback and we wanted to see what we could do with the Kia Stinger Performance Tune. The Kia Stinger has different trim styles. The GT, GT1 and the GT2. This article will be examining the GT model. Kia builds GT’s in its home country of South Korea where they have factories. The Stinger is not about outright power but this has only led to more interest at what this car could achieve. Kia Motors has pushed this car to market by partnering with GQ magazine to promote the car as a street style vehicle. Another push was made last year when two stinger commercials premiered during the Super Bowl. We knew the Kia was impressive, but we weren’t sure of the exact numbers dealing with performance.
Taking Stock of the Specs
Marketed as a car that is more about the journey of the ride instead of finishing first, the Kia GT has a respectable amount of Horsepower for a stock vehicle. When purchasing, a decision can be made between a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine or a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The Kia Stinger comes with standard all-wheel drive and when looking at the twin turbo V6, delivers 365 horsepower and 376 LB-FT of torque. Also take note of a 0-60 in 4.7 seconds.The Stinger uses a shortened version of the Hyundai Genesis’ front engine platform with additional steel reinforcement. When looking at the stock specs, we knew the Stinger was impressive. But we knew we could unlock even more performance out of this vehicle once we got it in the shop.
Kia Stinger GT Performance Tune Process
For our performance tune process, conditions were certainly harsh as you’d expect for a summer day in Atlanta. The humidity was 63% and the temperature was a mere 94F inside the shop. We tried our best to keep the car as cool as possible by running three fans, but it was still a little heat soaked. Well, while we expected to make excuses for the weather, the Kia did what it did all along and simply impressed the hell out of us. We couldn’t be happier with the results. Our procedure provides the best possible performance and results within the original safety margins of your car. We have nearly 30 years experience working on, and tuning vehicles. Kia Stinger GT Performance Tune Results
There are many benefits to a Kia Stinger GT tune. As we have previously mentioned, the Kia Stinger has 365HP and 376LBS-FT Torque at the crank. We can adjust that, at the wheels by decreasing 15%. The test vehicle was in 5th gear which has a 1:00-1 ratio and its wheels were turning 130MPH when it reached its peak of 459 Horsepower and 522LBS-FT of Torque. The only difference from Stock that we adjusted is a K & N High Flow Air Filter. It is simply amazing what Kia have accomplished with this car!
